Downtown Newberg welcomes Special Olympics participants.

special-olympics-oregon_logo2015 Summer State Games proudly supported by A-dec will be held on July 11-12 in Newberg.   Special Olympics athletes from around the state will compete in four sports: athletics (track & field),  golf, bocce and softball.

The Summer State Games will be held at the following locations in the Newberg area: Newberg High School, George Fox University, Chehalem Glenn Golf Course, Chehalem Park & Recreation District. Summer State Games is about athletics and competition, but also about family, friends and celebration. Its components include Games Ceremonies, Law Enforcement Torch Run, Oregon Team Wellness (Health and Wellness Expo), Olympic Town and Victory Dance.

The Summer State Games will have a significant economic impact on Newberg and Yamhill County as more than 2,000 participants, including athletes, unified partners, and coaches plus 1,000 volunteers and an estimated 3,500 family members, friends, media and spectators come together over the two – day event.

The Newberg Downtown Coalition is committed to helping make the games a success by providing volunteers and helping downtown merchants welcome participants.
